The Block's Main Ensuites Reveals
This week’s winner The Block’s Main Ensuite Week
I haven’t really been watching this season of The Block- I suppose I get a bit frustrated -of the expectations it sets …building a massive home in a few weeks with multiple trades working around the clock.
It was another bathroom reveal this week.
There were different styles and styling, not anything that I loved but if you know me, I love my Hamptons style.
There was the Mahogany burgundy ensuite…very moody- the judges remarked that there wasn’t enough lighting around the vanity but the curved shower was amazing, with a great shower ledge and skylight…with horizontal burgundy tiling paired with another textured pink tile and custom made tiled planter boxes. A big tick for the shower ledge.
The Amber bathroom- with see through amber basins and bath…I can remember this colour from years ago…I remember soap holders and towel rails in this see through Amber style. This bathroom also had Apricot VJ panelling (the first home we built had Apricot walls everywhere)-with gold tapware…it was nice but all a bit old fashioned….I feel this bathroom would date.
The next bathroom was the white one-With a wet and dry area-and a problem archway…that was changed to a rectangular design. It was a very neutral colour scheme(kit kat tiles contrasting with square tiles) -with a great vanity with a lot of storage and fantastic shaving cabinets-with a huge shower section, a tiled bench and a large shower ledge-with 2 showers. But one judge said it was like an up market abattoir-cold and scary….but the big plus in my books was the storage!!
The Olive Green bathroom- with huge slab grey tiles and a solid concrete olive green bath and basins with luxurious brushed gold tapware- although I would have carried the tiles around all the walls, a couple of walls had no tiling and looked too stark….but one of the judges remarked it was ”a timeless bathroom that oozed luxury”…the big plus? this bathroom will not date.
The boys’ bathroom was very masculine and beige, with 1.2m tiling on some walls with absolutely gorgeous small textured square tiles and wallpaper on the walls. It had a fab vanity with so much storage and huge shaving cabinets-the shower area with a freestanding bath was gorgeous…and the shower ledge around 2 walls- hallelujah love!!!- a big tick with these.
If you are thinking of building, these bathrooms will give you inspiration, just keep in mind trends that may not stand the test of time…the amber bath looks amazing but the 80’s look may not be around next year….but hey it won the judges vote.
