Tiles don't have to be boring

Let’s talk tiles. Whilst timber flooring is becoming more popular for the main living areas of the home, you still need to tile your bathrooms, laundry and (usually) the kitchen splashback.

Years ago you really had no choice on what sized tile, or in what pattern the tile would be laid. It was just a 30x30mm tile (or smaller), laid in a straight pattern.

Now, there are endless options and trends….

For the bathroom, you’ll find 600x200mm tiles, that can be laid up to the ceiling, the same tile used for the floor and wall, 400x400, 600x300, 450x450, 300x150…plenty of choices.

There are Hamptons style options with a subway tile laid in a brick bond pattern, laid vertically, or on a diagonal or a herringbone pattern.

There are small mosaic tiles that can be used for a feature wall in the shower or above the bath. Or they can be used in the shower niche, adding a pop of colour to a neutral colour scheme.

There are even tiles that look like timber which are popular for main flooring areas.

Gone are the days of a bland colour scheme, with greens and blues becoming popular for kitchen splashbacks and feature walls.

Tiles with patterns on them are popular for those seeking a Hamptons style which adds wow factor to a bathroom or laundry floor.

Whatever your colour scheme or interior style, there is a tile option out there for you. The fun part is selecting it!
